Greenseas Tuna
Greenseas Tuna may be more sustainable than some other tuna brands, but they still fish with FADs and nets that catch turtles, sharks and other creatures that are discarded as unwanted bycatch. Calling a product that does nothing more for the planet than remove ocean life "green" is quite a marketing stretch.
Bottled Water
The bottled water industry positions its product as natural, healthy and in tune with the environment; their products display pictures of pristine mountain tops and beautiful natural springs. And it's working: Australians spend more than half a billion dollars a year on bottled water. In 2008, the sale of bottled water increased by 10 percent.
Reflex Office Paper
Paperlinx's giant Maryvale mill located in Victoria's Central Highlands is the largest pulp and paper making complex in Australia, consuming 475,000 cubic metres of eucalyptus forest per annum (RFA, 1998).
In July 2006, the Maryvale Mill received Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) Chain of Custody Certification for A4 Reflex products manufactured on its Number 3 and Number 5 Paper Machines. Paperlinx has been proudly promoting its environmental credentials ever since (as well as before).
Recyclable Palstics
Almost every product you pick up now bears the little recycling triangle. This does not mean it is necessarily recyclable in your area. Most plastics can be recycled, but due to the difficulty in collecting, sorting, cleaning and reprocessing, at present for most councils it is only economically viable to recycle three types of plastic from domestic sources in Victoria.
Code 1, PET (e.g., soft drink bottles)
Code 2, HDPE (e.g., milk and juice bottles)
Code 3, vinyl (V) (e.g., juice and cordial bottles)
Free Range Eggs
Despite the pictures of happy hens roaming lush green paddocks that now grace many egg cartons, Australia's free range industry is not a happy place. Many of Australia's major producers run properties with mixed systems: hens laying in cages, as well as in barns, and free-range set-ups, however eggs produced in either system can end up labelled "free range".

Ethical or Socially Responsible Investment (SRI) Funds
Ethical or socially responsible investment (SRI) is the practice of consciously selecting investments in activities which will serve the common good. It allows people to ensure their savings and superannuation aren't being used to support companies whose activities harm society and the environment.
RSPCA Liberty Barnlaid Eggs
RSPCA Watchdog state "The Royal Society for the Protection of Cruelty against Animals says it's against the battery cage yet maintains a business arrangement and accepts sponsorship from Pace Farms, Australia's largest battery egg producer. The RSPCA say their Liberty Barnlaid Egg Endorsement Scheme with Pace Farms will ensure that some hens get our of cages, yet the number of battery hens in cages has not decreased while the RSPCA gets paid (to date) over $182,560 in royalty payments.
